about parental rights

Hello.
I thought I'd pass this information on to help make sure that we are all aware of the potential dangers to our parental rights.  Please take the time to visit the website   http://www.parentalrights.org/   There is  a link to  a video about the problems with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.  The video/movie is full of real life testimonies where the parental rights were denied here in the USA. It's scary and overwhelming.  God is control!  but we need to know what's going on politically so we're prepared to stand up for what we believe.    I just keep asking myself, "Is this possible?"   I've just learned about this threat recently.  I'm curious,  have you heard anything or experienced anything personally?

Please take the time to visit the website   http://www.parentalrights.org/

ParentalRights.Org's mission is to protect children by empowering parents through adoption of the Parental Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and by preventing U.S. ratification of the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC):

Thanks,
Tiffani

Our right to direct the upbringing of our children is at stake.  This is such an important cause that is dear to my heart.  If you haven't looked into Parental Rights.org (link above), please (please, please, please) do.  This email just stresses the urgency (of course I'm not expecting anyone to donate ((unless God tells you to :)) ), but the site will give you clarity as to the cause.  If you are interested, they will email action items (usually calls to our Senators and such) when we are able to help the cause.  I pray that you will take the time to check it out.

Thank you and God bless you!
So much love,
Lisa

Urgent Post-Election Update

Dear Friend of Parental Rights,

There is no polite way to say this. Our goal of protecting parental rights just got a lot harder as a result of Tuesday's election. This is especially true in the U.S. Senate where we will now face 53 Democrats who have uniformly supported UN treaties to undermine our families and our national sovereignty.

Those who wish to push America into the camp of UN-controlled nations have to be absolutely giddy at their prospects.

Before the election, we had obtained intelligence that the proponents of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities were going to make a serious run for ratification during the lame duck session of Congress that starts next week. Their chances of success have dramatically improved.

We can and must fight back. We need 34 Senators to stand against these efforts that would place American policy and our families under the watchful control of the United Nations.

It is going to take a far more robust effort to stop the ratification in this political atmosphere. And, frankly, we are under-staffed. We must add two or three staff members to do the ground work needed to put a full-court press on the U.S. Senate and stop this UN take-over.

We also need additional staff for a new state legislative project to protect parental rights immediately while we continue to work for a permanent solution with the Parental Rights Amendment.

I will have more to say about the state-level project next week.

But time is absolutely of the essence to stop the Senate from handing our nation over to the bureaucrats in New York and Geneva. Please give sacrificially today to halt this pro-treaty surge.

I just returned from Germany where parental rights in education are non-existent. German parents warned me to redouble my efforts to stop these UN treaties lest we fall into the same trap.

I need your help right now.

Sincerely,

Michael Farris
President

Final review of Time4Learning

Well,  my trial period is over with Time4Learning,  an on-line curriculum.  In order to get my free trial,  I am supposed to blog about the experience.

Overall,  I was pretty pleased and feel that it could be a good choice for many families.  However, I don't think it's the best fit for us.  Looking back over this past year, I realize that we do "school on the run" regularly whether we are on a road trip or just feel like doing school at a different location (like Cracker Barrel or the park.)  I want to be able to grab the books and go.  Having our school work primarily on the computer makes this a bit challenging.

One thing that I love about Time4Learning is that there is no long term commitment.  We can pay month by month.  Therefore, I do think that Time4Learning may be helpful for us in the future.  We hope to have more children and with all that comes with having a baby,  it will be a fantastic alternative to have on hand.

One last comment;  I think that writing is a very important skill.  I know that grammar and punctuation are included in Time4Learning,  but what about the paper and pencil process of planning, drafting, revising, proofreading and publishing,  not to mention handwriting?  But that's the beauty of homeschooling,  parents could certainly add these activities into their child's school day if they feel it's necessary.

Thanks Time4Learning for the opportunity to try out your curriculum!

My first review of TIme4Learning

Well, Elijah and I have been experimenting with the Time4Learning website for a few days now. He loves it! He's flying through it. I have mixed feelings so far. I love that he is enjoying learning and thinks it super fun, but I feel left out. I'm so used to being very involved with his learning. I like knowing what he's learning about so that we can dialogue about it throughout the day and during "real life." I feel out of the loop when I send him to the computer to do his school work. On the other hand, it is wonderful not having to be 100% involved all of the time. So.... I"m not sure if we'll use it yet. I know there are more ways for parents to keep track of where their kids are and what they are learning. I just haven't figured it all out yet. I'll keep you posted.

Regarding my prayer request from a couple of days ago.

Praise the Lord!  I just heard a little while ago that Stephanie came out of the surgery and she and the baby are doing well.  I don't know much,  but apparently the surgery went much quicker than expected. Thank you sooo much for joining me in prayer and THANK YOU GOD for hearing and answering!  Have a wonderful night.

Good morning.  There is a friend of a friend who needs serious prayer.  Will you PLEASE help us pray for a miracle by Friday morning (surgery day)?  Please read the email below for details.
Thank you so much,
Tiffani Reid

Hi friends and family!

I have an urgent prayer request that I need you to help me lift up. There is a sweet mom that I know who is in a very scary situation. Stephanie is VERY pregnant with a condition called placenta accreta. From what I have read, she is in much more danger than the baby. Basically she has a VERY high risk of bleeding to death. She goes into surgery this Friday  1/13/12  at 9:00 our time when the doctors will take the baby. It is supposed to take about 3 minutes for them to get baby London out, but then comes the hard part. Stephanie will immediately be rushed into a 10 hour surgery with a team of 21 doctors. She has been in the hospital since before Christmas. She and her husband have 5 children together already and they ARE fellow believers. I can't even begin to imagine the fear and sadness they are enduring. We don't know what God has planned for their family, but I am praying for a complete healing that totally baffles the doctors. God can do ANYTHING, right? Please help me pray for them! And please feel free to forward this message to any close family and friends that you know will help us lift Stephanie and her family up in prayers. I will let you know what happens.

Thank you!
Emily
